Often times through life, we all have situations we go through that seem like there is no way out of it. It’s not easy, but life’s not easy in general. If life was easy and things that we accomplish, wouldn’t be worth it. But there are times where we feel as though we cannot get out of what adversity we have faced, or it is just one trial after another. When it comes down to that, we have to keep a positive mindset, as soon as we start having a negative or “victims” mindset. That’s when we have lost this game of life. But being able to hold yourself accountable and keep in mind what we are wanting to accomplish even when the going gets tough. You will realize that you are a lot stronger than you think, you will start to have confidence brewing and truly we can start winning.
Let me tell you, it’s okay to make the wrong decisions, truly sometimes we don’t know if it is the wrong or right decision. What we think can be the best decision for us at the time, could turn around and have an adverse affect. But that is a learning experience, we figure out what was the problem/mess up and we go back at it again definitely. I can attest that I made bad decisions before, but I learned from it, had some setbacks though, but kept attacking with a positive mindset and learned from what I did before. Just think of it as insanity, you can’t possibly keep doing same thing over again and except a different result. If something did not work out the way you wanted, critique a few things and go back at it. I know it’s easier said than done, but it surely is possible. It just starts off with little changes, and the thought of no matter what I will keep pushing.
Another thing that we need to focus on, is one step at a time. I find it that many people will look at things as a whole, which is not a bad thing. But you have the possibility to lose sight of what you are wanting to accomplish, especially if it is a big goal you are trying to achieve. So, we make that big goal into smaller goals, we take it slow. Something that everyone should do is make a plan, whether it be financially, physically, mentally, etc. we make a plan and write it down. Then I believe you should write down the steps to get to that goal and we focus on those steps. Look at it this way, those steps can be the smallest steps but those small steps can make miles and miles of a walk seem more accomplishable. Not only that, you will see a change and that change will fuel us to keep going. Nobody likes the feeling of being lost and there are times in our journey we can get lost. But being able to look back at the goal and steps you made, will help you get out of this feeling of being lost. Another reason why I say to write down these steps because if something did not work out the way you wanted it or needed it. You can go back and think about where it went wrong to be able to correct it.
Going off of writing your goals and steps down, journaling has helped me out a lot as well. I understand, it may feel like you have a diary, but being able to write your thoughts down, how you felt about the day, what you want to do for that day, etc. is a huge help in my eyes. It has helped me to go from overthinking an absurd amount to minimizing it. I’m not saying that it has gotten me to stop overthinking, but it surely has helped. For example, for me when I start to overthink, I will pickup my notebook and write down the thoughts that I am thinking about. Then I will look at them and see what I can control and what I can’t. This is called locus of control, we have internal and external. The things I cannot control I will cross them out and focus on the things that I can. Not only does this get me out of overthinking but it also redirects my attention to the things that I can change. Now, I’m not saying to do what I have done but I’m just saying give journaling a thought, it doesn’t take long and it has helped a lot of people. So, why not give it a shot and see if it can work for you.
Look, life is hard but everyone can make it through it and be happy in the end. We can’t get tied up in the things that haven’t gone our way but focus on what our next step is. Weather it be reevaluating our current situation, our goals, or what happened in the past. Let me tell you, you can do it! I know you guys can, so let’s lock in and get out of any adversity we are in. Let’s just focus on the first step and when we accomplish it, we focus on the next one and keep that mindset.
